Pacific chased down 275 in the Middlesex and Essex Invitation yesterday afternoon against last year's champions Oakfield Parkonians, the highest score to win in Pacific history. Congratulations to all involved on a victory that included key spells from Hollman junior, Ahmed Hussain (aka the spin doctor). Sumant on his comeback was on a hat-trick with his spearing seamers. Web bowled well and Toby fielded superbly, taking a skier with typical Chasseaud reassurance. He also prised out the last wicket to finish off an irritating final stand.
Openers Hollman (103) and Sharma (42 from 24) then got Pacific off to a pinch-hittingly perfect start. The newly married Webley applied his silken gloss on proceedings with a sumptuous 60 before Ben Burnham (19 no) and Sharan Timbadia showed steely nerves and no little skill to take us home as the darkness and drizzle drew in.
Health update:
Phil Smith was forced to pull out just before the start of the game due to his injured shoulder. He now says: "Just been to the doctor's. Rotator cuff tendinitis. Be out a for a good few weeks." We wish Phil well with his recovery.
Thanks to Ben and Kieran for uploading the scorecard.
