The pitch which was passed fit earlier on the weekend was being used for the 3rd time in 3 days & took slow turn, but the seamers found it placid with little & predictable bounce. That said, P's opening pair Marcel Boonaert & Mike Alexander, bowled accurately to keep the score down with just 9 runs coming in the 1st 45 mins. A stunning catch (again) from Paul Attwood down the legside off Alexander to dismiss Hall (2) was the breakthrough & set the standard in the field, although regularly surpassed by an excellent fielding performance from Colin Pettet in the gully region & which also featured a direct hit from Jonathan Campbell from 40 yards to run out Orange (0).
P in the field were right on top of their game & Wilkinson's changes continued to bear fruit as medium swinger Tim Mileham picked up 4 wickets from his longest ever spell for the club. This included the key wicket of Captain Andy Hall (9), who had earlier played 2 superb cover drives for 4 off Alexander.. Wilkinson then chipped in with a wicket himself before Hollman wrapped it up with 2 the final 2 wickets from 4 balls incl. unusually a hit wicket - leaving him on a hattrick in the next game.
P's target of 101 should have been fairly straightforward but a degree of overconfidence & fine bowling especially from Tom Madelin with his left arm swing, saw P lose wickets at all to regular intervals. Colin Pettet top scored (27) to round off a fine performance by him on the day, but it was man of the match Tim Mileham (17*) & Captain Nigel Wilkinson (1*) who saw the side home from 82-7.
