Pacific v Phoenix Management at Victoria Park Pitch 1

Lost by 12 runs
Victoria Park Community Cricket League fixture

The 99 beaten finalists fell at the 1st fence to league newcomers Newham C, who repeated their league win earlier in the season.

N: 154-6 (16 overs) R Allum 4-0-14-2
P: 142-5 (16 overs) R Allum 61. S Lay 35. Omar 4-0-15-1

Despite a great spell from Rob Allum, the rest of the bowlers could not contain & 4 chances which went down did little to advance Pacific's cause. Having won the toss, Imran, Newham C's Captain batted first & as the stygian gloom descended in the 2nd innings, Newham held their advantage.

Tight bowling from the 4 seamers Omar, Gufar, Maf & Sunny produced more than economical figures given the context of the game, but induced a spate of run outs including key top order batter Steve Emmins for a duck without facing. Although Rob Allum again excelled with the bat ably supported by Steve Lay, the continuing risk taking that comes as part of the chasing 12 an over package, came unstuck towards the endwhich saw 2 new batters needing 24 from the final over - it was just too much, thereby leaving Pacific to rue a dissapointing evening in the field.

Winners Newham C go on to play either Caladonian Conquerors or Chats Palace in the quarter final next Thursday. Pacific's next league game is against Grasshoppers 2 on Tuesday after which they must endure a mid saeson break before playing league leaders Newham B on 19/7.
