P rounded off their most successful tour to date with an exciting win against old rivals Bayshill.
B: 201-5 dec. S Liley 132* J Baglivi 8-1-23-3
P: 202-8. M Ralph 43. T Mileham 36. S Roberts 30. Champness 9.2-61-4
P had previously won 7 of of the 13 games played against Bayshill but B has turned the balance in recent years. With Steve Liley seeing off the irrepressable John Baglivi including 2 dropped catches as tour fatigue set in. P were to drop 5 chances in all as Liley accelerated at an indecent haste as he singlehandedly changed the face of the game from 39-4.
But this picture postacrd village setting with shortish boundaries & a fast outfield was to be a hard total to defend - but nearly. using only 3 seamers Champness was the most successful - P had seemed in control with fine innings from Matthew Ralph, Tim Mileham, Stuart & darryl Roberts. The loss of these wickets as teh score had been 128-2 with still 18 overs reamining. Frank baglivi (16*) dropped early on made the most of his fortune & hit the winning run with 5 overs remaining but just 1 batter left to come.
A perfect ending to a superb few days of fun, spirit & enjoyable cricket, the honours being shared in particular by Matthew Ralph, Stuart Roberts, Darryl Roberts, John Baglivi, Nigel Wilkinson & Tim Mileham - any one of which would have an even chance of being named man of the tour.
