Sat 12 Sep 1998
Lost by 1 wkt
Friendly fixture

The tour travelled onto Cambridgeshire, although staying in Suffolk.

WC : 143-9 (30 overs). M Glover 45*. D Roberts 6-3-10-4.
P : 142-5 (30 overs). S Lay 38. F Baglivi 38* C Glover 6-0-28-2

Several straight defeats was what Pacific IIs were now on the back of & WC were normally a very good side. This did however turn out to be the closest match of the season. Most good work was done by heroes soon to turn villains Darryl Roberts & Frank Baglivi.6 runs were required from the final over & theses 2 were the batters. @ runs off the 1st ball so now 4 from 5 balls.Frank unfortunately made only 1 more scoring shot as the pressure told & pacific were 1 run short. Addley had won the day by keeping his head & bowling quickish off breaks.earlier Darryl had bowled out their top 4 but WC recovered well around No. 7 M Glover who almost scored a half century. In reply Pacific were cautious as 31-0 became 34-3. Steve Lay again played well with a foundation innings & at 83-5 all appeared lost until Frank was joined by Darryl & they brought the target so tantalisingly close. All credit to all those associated with Weston Colville they pulled out all the stops to ensure that we were all able to enjoy the game by preparing the pitch & drying the outfield even after the game had been called off !
