A hard, close fought victory at Mayfield in baking sun. Mayfield were limited to 140/9 dec by good bowling on a variable pitch - in particular Webbo, Brown and Sandeep – and three catches by Toby at mid-off – one of them a scorcher. The slow bowlers served up a few juicy ones to be dispatched to the boundary though. Nuggsy, after eventually arriving, forced the declaration when his bouncer was hooked for six but the batsman may have trodden on his stumps. Credit to the Mayfield skipper for defusing a tense situation by declaring.

In reply we looked fairly comfortable as Toby and Ben steered us towards the target, but after they departed the variable bounce was exploited by their quick who removed skipper Webbo with a bouncer and then hit Sandeep in the jaw. However, the lower middle order donned helmets and saw us home with an over to spare, with good cameos from Sandeep, Nuggsy and Satch in particular.
