Campbell sets new record
Pacific v Bayshill at On Tour
Sun 24 Jun 2001 at 2pm
Won by 149 runs
Friendly fixture

A memorable tour ended Sunday with Pacific comprehensively beating traditional Cheltenham rivals, Bayshill, by 149 runs.

Pacific 229-4, J Campbell 52, S Lay 48, L Yates 43, D Murray 36no, T Mileham 24no
Bayshill 80 all out, M Ralph 6-30

This marked a magnifient turnaround for the Islington club who, after losing their first two tour matches, won the last three to finish with a winning tour.

Matt Ralph bowled a devastating spell taking 6-30 to wrap up the Bayshill innings for 80, following Pacific's 229-4. Highlight of the batting was Jonathan Campbell's 52 off 24 balls, the club record fastest fifty, and perhaps representing the desire of the Pacific team to wrap the match up quickly and get home after a long and grueling tour.

Steve Lay (48) and Leon Yates (43) put on 76 for the second wicket, with old standbys David Murray (36 not out) and Tim Mileham (24 not out) chipping in at the end (both playing for their tour averages).
