An overcast and drizzly day greeted the cricketers who assembled at Wray.  Pacific (presumably) won the toss and batted. 

Sumeet and Paul started positively with a fifty opening partnership.  Our batting looked comfortable as we ticked over at 7 an over.  Sumeet and Toby proved jug shy - it may have been that Toby was unlucky again with his lbw decision (this author was asleep).  After the early rain the sun came out and and Toby and Luke's partnership captialised with 141 this time.  Luke's hundred was very quick and just had a feeling of inevitabality such was his control.  Kieran played a couple of lovely drives in his 30.  Unfortunately late wickets meant we did not capitalise on the early momentum to the fullest extent.

Tea was good (Ahmed's curry gaining particular approval seemingly).

Strongroom had to come hard at us and duly did but despite a couple of dropped chances we were just about ahead at 134/3 at drinks. Nav bowled supremely well and Nuggsy enjoyed his return to Wray. Paul handled the transition from his earlier baseball match well and got a deserved wicket.

However, the less said about the last 15 overs the better really.  First the injuries - Luke nearly broke an ankle at cow due to worn rups on the nets, Nav damaged a finger taking the one catch we held, Paul R suffered a knee injury putting his body on line stopping one at mid off - he nobly stayed on the field to keep allowing Sumeet his first over for the club.  The number of dropped catches was embarassing.  The spinners suffered immensely from not being backed by their fielders.

Overall a deserved victory for Strongroom.  287 was only slightly above par really (should have been 300+), the bowling was OK but we probably were a seamer short, the catching abysmal. At least six drops, two missed stumpings, two missed run outs. Chief culpability probably goes to Nav dropping Ali at slip and Nuggsy dropping Schneider at mid wicket (both were in single figures at the time) - Schneider proving the momentum changer.
