Not one of Pacific's prouder days despite victory.  Broxbourne was dry if overcast at the 1pm start time.  Unfortunately several players decided there was no obligation to arrive for 1pm.  Skipper Toby lost the toss and Pacific fielded and he opened the bowling.

12th man and sub fielder Gleadow promptly pulled off a Hollywood dive at gully but forgot to hang on to the ball and thereby gave the hard hitting left handed opener a life.  Parkinson bowled well and was unlucky to have an umpire with dubious vision as to height.  Smith was his usual self and merited more luck.  Korgaonkar bowled one of his tightest spells for the club. However, the foot slipped off the jugular as the drizzle set in.  Ahmed got three but could have done with two deep midwickets.    Hopper and Richards bowled solid spells but the diminuitive number eight thoroughly merited his fifty as he rallied the tail.

As per England's bowlers at Lords so for Pacific's batsmen at Broxbourne.  A strong and deep batting order on paper made an absolute dog's dinner of the chase.  Debutant Marshall looked good until skipping halfway down the wicket to be stumped in the fourth over - this was a feat Parkinson also achieved later on.  Lahri was run out  backing up after short extra cover dived and deflected the ball on to the stumps at the non strikers end.  The opposition bowling was not great but to win a game you have to respect and hit what is on offer.  As the rain got harder thankfully skipper Toby showed the necessary grit, determination and sensible classy driving to see us over the line.

Several players could do with being made to write out the club's equal opps policy.
