This was a decider between 2nd and 3rd place teams to qualify from the Green League for the second place in the First Division, alongside London Tigers who had already secured their place in the top flight for the second half of the season.

Island won the toss and put Pacific in, prefering to chase. Two good early catches in the deep saw Pacific on 12-2 after 2 overs, but Roy (18), Webley (40) and Faisal (30) all contributed well to raise the rate to over 8 rpo, but the remaining 5 wickets fell, all cleaned bowled, before Pacific could finish their overs.

Ravi Ramanuja's leg spin took the last 3 wickets in quick succession and left Pacific on 118 all out with 7 balls left unplayed from their 16 overs. Island were chasing just under 7.5 rpo.

Miran fell to an inside edged bat onto pad LBW given by his Island team mate umpire for just 4, but Island were already 30 for 1 in the 4th over.

A couple of dropped catches didn't help Pacific's cause as Tanjeem began to dominate with the bat, scoring a quick fire 51 before retiring after facing just 31 balls.

But where Tanjeem left off, Robert Jones continued, scoring 41 not out off 26 balls.

It was left to former opener Mo Rahman, now coming in at no.4, to score the winning boundary off the first ball of the 12th over as Island yet again had a scoring rate of over 10 runs per over to finish a game well within the allocated 16 overs.

Island qualify for the First Division and Pacific have to settle for the 2nd tier.

pitch 3. After the washout / strikeout this week, we have a big game on Tuesday. I’m not available as I’m in Exeter that day, but that’s helped us field an even stronger side for a tough oppo! ;)
