Well this loss was all down to Richard Blench's duck.
No not really, but the wind and hot air played a large part to this loss which saw Pacific saunter in the field and bowl like clowns to gift Vallance an early Christmas present. With good tosser Chandler, proving that practice makes perfect, winning the initial gambling battle: Pacific opened the evening with a swashbuckling, yet below par, 137.
Steve Emmins and Harley 'let's try and hit this into the next' Field got our gallant heroes off to a flyer with 34 off the first 3 overs, until Harley carted to deep cover. The cracking Emmins showed that the cracking was unfortunately done by his forearm, kindly administered by a Salman beamer; to which Steve had to retire hurt into the welcoming arms of the first aid kit that boasted creams with sell by dates of 1998. Ironically, Salman replaced Steve when he couldn't field due to the searing pain in his arm.
After Blench's duck, Wainwright showed the way with some apple-carting and fruitfully swung his way to 40, including a Faldo (the infamous Test player) -esque heave over cow. Enter McKillop who nurdled his way to a cost-effective 18, a swing-from-the-hip tail, and Pacific found themselves on 137.
Vallance entered stage-left to find Pacific having filled up their paper-plates with lashings of cream and cherries. All bowlers, bar Long, rolled out the buffet table to which Vallance's Saiful and Shahriar helped themselves gleefully. The buffet table was, however, slightly light, as it proved that some indifferent fielding might have been down to the rather wonderful Black Forest Gateaux. Apart from variation in flight and pace from all concerned, the target proved all rather too easy. Jones did however pick up his first wicket, and now has an average; however, it's probably a game where all concerned would probably rather have been left off the bowling-figures.
