An on-off day due to regular showers did not prevent Pacific defeating a much weakened Isis side. Skipper Steve Lay opted to bowl first, mindful of the risk of a tedious draw in the rain. Opening bowlers Darryl Roberts and the returing Olli Haill impressed, but enjoyed no luck.
It was slow going for Isis before a lone appeal for leg before from first slip Jim Davies brought Kurt Rademaker the first wicket, much to his teammates' surprise! With Aussie Rademaker out to impress his visiting parents, wickets began to tumble. Meanwhile Rob "Rocket Scientist" Bastin undermined the batsmen's concentration (and their will to live) with a monologue on something astrological - causing at least one suicidal run out in an attempt to escape the middle!
The advent of a few teenagers encouraged Jon Webley - who was soon on a hat trick. However Bastin put down the edge from the hat trick ball - sparing a relieved Webley a double jug!
With less rain and only 91 to chase after tea - skipper Lay rolled back the years with some vintage batting. Returning Aussie member Pete Czabotar also revelled in the unacustomed role of opener - unfurling his trademark hockey shot to good effect before falling for 22. It was left to Lay and Sammy Purcel to seal the emphatic 9 wicket win.
