Skipper Lay leads from front
Pacific v Chaseville at Oakhill Park
Sun 25 May 1997
Won by 49 runs
Friendly fixture

Under pressure to bat 1st by his batsmen, Captain Steve Lay did once he had won the toss.

P : 161-10. S Lay 44. T Mileham 32. Athey 16.3-3-53-7
C : 112-10. N Hintzon 41. A Palmer 8.4-1-13-4 R Brooks 3-1-8-4

Leading from the front a series of solid partnerships were made.4 consecutive ducks were not increased by Tim Mileham & Jonathan Hardisty was another to capitalise.

Athey bowled straight as Pacific looked to accelerate & was the most effective opposition bowler of the season to date.At 104-2 the Pacific bowlers did not look penetrative enough being confronted by the technique & flair of N Hinton but he was out to a well judged catch on the long on boundary by Jon Hardisty & turned the balance as Richard Brook's leg spin reaped his best bowling including a triple wicket maiden with 7 overs to spare.
