We tasted defeat today. On a devilish pitch. Against as accurate an oppo bowling attack as we've ever seen in the league. 128/9 off 50 overs was chased down by Fives CC. But we gave it our all. And they got over the line with 3 wickets remaining.

So we shouldn't be too despondent. Because our luck will turn and we'll get the victories we deserve.

And because we should remember and celebrate the inclusivity of our club, which brings together people from all kinds of cultures and backgrounds each weekend in the shared, collective cricket experience.

(And there was the music! Our match was played out to the live sounds of sweet soul jazz being performed in the Nth Middlesex function room. This was the best of the day. Inspired by the great Wonder. Cheers Stevie...)
