Pacific (237 for six) lost to the James Gleadow Alliance, who did The Nugget proud by knocking off the runs for only four wickets down and 32 balls to spare.
Wray was awash with fine spring light as the Alliance outfoxed a Pacific XI thanks in no small part to a display of easy power from Gourav Patil, whose quick-fire century allowed the Alliance to ease to victory with plenty of overs to spare. Pacific newbie Paul Rajkumar demonstrated assurance and accomplishment with the bat. It was a special day to support our stellar seamer James Gleadow and raise well over £600 for important cancer charities.
To show solidarity and support to James "The Nugget" Gleadow and to fight the cancer he's battling, players from his four clubs came together to play in this match.
£707.60 was raised on day (minus £100 for tea costs, and possibly £82 for pitch hire which is being negotiated) and extra money still been given may increase total by at least £60. For the sharp witted souls Nuggsy has recognised his error in ticking gift aid on the £394 payment and notified Virgin.
Islington Tribune reporter Amy Smith (Smiffy's sister) has written a nice report of the match here.
