We managed a full match between the showers, slippery for the fielders in the last hour but the pitch remained dry enough.
The ex students side batted first in this time game & made 160-5 dec in 30 overs against the North Middlesex overspill hosts.
Opening the bowling, Alex Harris bowled the best spell I have seen him bowl, genuine pace bounce & swing with the new ball & was unlucky to claim just the 1 wicket in his opening 6 over spell. Max Harris was first change & while enticing the occasional chance he bowled accurately stifling run scoring from his end. The visitors number 3, a South African was a genuinely compact player with strong technique & a genuinely rapid bowler we found out later - Max was unlucky not to have him caught off a mistimed skier at mid wicket.
Ben Woodhouse came on after Max & also bowled well as the visitors looked to increase their run rate towards a declaration & a mistimed cut was taken by this umpire/scorer at first slip having been pressed out of retirement again.
Earlier Paul Davis who played in the Pete Pistol v R Nicol match the previous week, also enjoyed his longest spell of the season & started to show good promise taking over from Alex Harris. Just to add that Hornsey's Dylan Nugent also played & also bowled a steady spell towards the end of the innings. Notable bowling mention to Ravi Patel who complemented Alex's pace & also deserved his wicket. Opening the batting it was a shame to see him run out for an optimistic leg bye defied by an excellent dash, pick up, swivel & hit from the keeper.
In reply Pacific had what turned out to be 27 overs to chase 161 to win. Dinesh Dipande had his best innings & scored solid runs with some cracking bottom hand hitting. Pacific's senior batters were top order with Jon Webley scoring 51 before he was out leaving Max Harris to join Luke Hollman needing 14 off 5 overs. The latter scored the winning 4 to reach 26* at a run a ball with 9 balls to spare, Max 1*
A worthwhile & enjoyable afternoon's cricket for all Nth Mdx players I'm pleased to report. s
