A cracking match delayed by the usual footballing turf-war nonsense. Taken to the wire, Pacific's total of 204 proved just too much for a battling Graces who went down fighting by 11 runs. Some good performances all round but R Siddique's 24 minute 61 and 4-24 gave the hosts the decisive edge. Special mention also for J Thornton and S Richards who got stuck in for 50 apiece and a decent catch each to boot. Yatin took a wicket on debut and a classic Richards strop about boundary flags proved to be a negligible blip on the otherwise sunny horizon. Graces stuck around with some handy partnerships until N Shofiq's ominous innings was ended by a diving catch from keeper Janaway. With this key partnership broken Pacific grabbed the advantage through skipper Siddique and Lucius bowling aggressively at the death. A good win for Pacific, but surely Democracy is the real winner...
