Chirpy hosts Broxbourne enjoyed a good win over Pacific. Openers Chasseaud and Boorman kicked things off for the Islington men. Boorman dealt with Brox's young fast bowler George Davies comfortably, cutting his short, nippy deliveries with aplomb, but fell foul of portly spinner Close from the tennis court end, edging to second slip. Mullens joined a hungover captain Chasseaud in the middle, and both began to find their feet against the Broxbourne attack. Both looked comfortable enough, but did not exploit opportunities afforded by the younger spinners as best they might. Mullens, enjoying his elevation up the order, departed for an enterprising 46, his highest score for Pacific. Bit-parts were played by Richards & Roy in supporting Toby's 82 not out, bolstering the Walthamstowian's formidable batting average. Special mention must go to Lahrie for giving Browny not out for a run out decision, particularly generous as Browny was ambling down the wicket about a yard short of the crease with one hand holding his trousers up, and the other holding his bat aloft as one would imagine King Arthur displayed Excalibur upon extraction from its stony prison. Pacific finished on 205.

The sun made a welcome appearance as the Pacifists took to the pitch following a tea, with opening bowlers Brown and Gleadow forming a stable foundation on which to build, only occasionally falling foul of the odd slog to the boundary. Unfortunately for us, Davies, in the middle order, could bat as quickly as he could bowl, hitting huge sixes on his way to a rapid 77 (off around 35 balls) as Broxbourne eased home with about six overs to spare, thanks in part to sloppy ground fielding and several dropped catches. Must try harder.
