This was a close game. Next time: fielding practice!
We batted first and posted 173 despite losing two early wickets for no runs. Toby Chasseaud played a captain's innings with 62. It was a very competitive total on a green top and we only lost due to dropping a few catches and some sloppy ground fielding. (Business as usual!)
Other than that, all the new guys played well, particularly Kiwi Richard Wilson with a brisk 25 after being lured out of retirement.
The champagne moment when one of the Priory Park batsmen smashed the ball hard and straight, the non-striking batsman tried to get out of the way but only succeeded in deflecting the ball off his bat perfectly into the hands of mid-on.
This writer has never seen that happen before, and doesn't expect to again.
