Somewhere in Shayne's house is the scorebook he left behind so he wrote up the scores on sheets of paper in the clubhouse - which were then left at Thames Ditton.
Hi everyone
Here’s the team sheet for this Friday. On paper we have a full team if St John decides to ‘bat for the other side’ if not selected by the home side. Should be a great game - I can sense Thames Ditton CC are still smarting after losing on the last ball last time we played them. I recall lots of friendly banter from the sidelines.
We’re starting as close as possible to 6 to get in 20 overs per innings, so try make it on time. Its going to be pretty dark even if we do start on time, so I’ve just bought a few pink cricket balls (real leather). We had a trial of orange ones last week in Victoria Park and batting and fielding after 8pm was much much easier. Play was actually possible at 8:45 on a typical gloomy August evening! It’s the first day of an Ashes test, so chances of poor weather are high!
Easiest way to get there is a train from Waterloo to Surbiton. Fast trains only take 15 minutes!!! They leave at 17:02, 17:23, 17:32 and 17:53. You won’t make a 6:15 start after that. Its about 1.7mile walk from the station. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
Not a nice thought with cricket kit, so it’s a much better idea to share a cab. Handily, there is a taxi rank right outside the station. I’m aiming to get on the 17:23, which means I’ll probably make the 17:32.
