A well spirited match had it's share of interruptions - none weather related. There is a 12 minute drinks break to take in the 100 meters final, there was the injury to the fielder on the wide long on boundary when the ball went through his hands dropping the "catch" on his forehead with a sickening noise. Then there was the fetching & carrying as Peter Henry made a tricky pitch look easy as he plundered 78 runs off 46 balls helping Pacific to declare on 190-8 at the tea interval.
Home team Captain Alan White was by far the pick of the bowlers with 5-28.
Except for the Village no 3 it was a cautious conservative reply & as the pitch flattened out & the ball being soft, batting with defence in mind was comfortable enough.
That said, the bowlers Pete Alexander, Jon Brown, Pete Henry & Jon Webley (in his 1st meaningful spell of the season following injury) toiled honestly but could not break down a stubborn Village line up.
XI:- Joe Bennett, Jon Brown, Matt Callender, Ben Gibson+, Peter Henry, Peter Hollman, Lahri Mohammed, Jon Webley*, Dan Bird, Pete Alexander + either John Robson (Robbo) or Phil Hancock
