Pacific lost its first game of the 8s season against table topping Goodmayes in a reasonably close game last night reduced to 14 overs per side. The difference in the teams proved to be the last minute absence of Pacific's 2 strike bowlers Allum and Roberts. Batting first, Pacific scored 133-4; Webley and Campbell getting into the 30s and newcomer Sharaz getting a useful 20. Pacific were never able to put a brake on the scoring and the winning runs were scored by Goodmayes in the penultimate over with only 2 wickets down. Lucius and Arjoon the pick of the bowlers. Bob Willis (off his longer run) took a clean bowled at the death to bring back some good memories. A game played in excellent spirits but ultimately comfortable victory for the oppo.
Jon Webley "Good pacy opening bowlers restricted us to 35 off first 5 overs not too many gimme's on offer. we ended up 133 for 4 which we though would give us a good chance but their batting was pretty strong and we didn't bowl that well especially missing DR & RA and they knocked off the runs with 8 balls to spare. If we had got off to a better start we may have got 150 which would of been a winning score, and if we had our two strike bowlers we may have tied them down and stopped them getting the runs."
