A 1 hour delay due to Saturday morning's rain seemed to start a catalogue of events with Giacco's washing machine exploding"Apologies for not making the game on Saturday. I spent most of the afternoon mopping up the kitchen on my own and the plumber only made it round at 5pm! Awful day. " & Moses declining Chris' revised lift in case the game was off - still waiting for a reply / apology for that one, & during the interval Luke & I called away as Pat's mother's health had taken a serious turn for the worse leaving just 8 to field & bowl.
The game itself was an interesting umpiring game for sure. Given that Luke was batting at no 10 the bowler's were giving Smiffy a decent run in the swearing stakes as they took it out on themselves, the batsmen, their teammates & naturally the umpires. I'd like to report that they were at least soundly thrashed but I heard that they achieved their target off the last ball with 2 wickets remaining which is very disappointing indeed. The Skip said "we had them 8 down for a while & had a crucial appeal for a catch behind off their top scorer (Razor) declined that was def out when he was 0 (Too scared of him to give it. Ed)." I can hear the forming an excited queue for this one in 09 although Jon added "great game all things considered" so I'll be there.
At least the Windsor Castle backdrop was very pleasant as indeed was the tea.
More on the home team's batting from Oli hopefully.
