Friendly fixture

LW notched up their 2nd win in 12 games against Pacific due in the main to a greater depth in batting & bowling spearheaded by Steve Beck.

P: 109-10. S Rees 33, P Hollman 25* S Beck 6.5-1-26-3
LW: 113-4. S Beck 43*. M Boonaert 8-1-32-3

Having opted to bat first in uncomfortable heat, P were able to notch up their highest opening partnership of the season - 40 before Paul Attwood (10) was caught bat/pad by Steve Eastway at silly mid on off Clarke.

Shayne Rees continued to play positively on a minefield pitch - riding his luck before before edging behind off left armer Andy Baxter (9-3-23-2). Pacific's inexperienced underbelly was then completely exposed as P sank from 40-0 to 58-8. The tail managed to rebuild around the innings around Captain, peter Hollman's 25* & when Boonaert play on to Beck P were only 11 runs short of what Hollman perceived as the minimum defendable target on such an unreliable pitch.

Despite Jon Brown providing support to an outstanding Marcel Boonaert, the latter tired & the former went wicketless when Hollman tried a double change with 2 new batters at the crease LW having recovered to 51-3 from 23-3 - but with first Nolan (20) & Baxter (22*), Beck played the most assured innings of the day & the change bowlers Hollman (2-0-15-1) & Mileham (1-0-19-0) were taken apart leaving LW runaway winners.

Pacific: P: P Attwood+, S Rees, A Knottnerus, J Bennett, E Szuman, T Mileham, A Rush, J Noon, P Hollman*, J Brown, M Boonaert.
