Pacific controlled 3/4s of the game - & yet conspired to a defeat in this inaugural match in this charming corner of Kent despite 2 solid batting contributions from Doug Gratton & Jim Davies.

T: 192-10 A Ingle-Finch 35*. D Roberts 13-5-52-4 D Gratton 8-0-34-3
P: 180-10 D Gratton 70, J Davies 42. T Chandra 8.4-2-21-3

Following Gratton's dismissal, thin edging the off spinner Page through to the keeper, P saw their position slump from 139-3 to 180 all out. Crucially left hander Jim Davies was in & is a dab hand at seeing sides home from far more precarious positions than needing 2.5 per over with 6 wickets in hand, but once he was caught by Hobbs - again off Page at mid wicket, - only Tim Mileham (10) looked capable of seeing his side home until he was bowled by T's overseas pro -Tim Chanda, a 1st class player from Kolkata, who then cleaned up the tail & saw his side home with 7 overs to spare. Earlier, P lead by opening seamer Darryl Roberts, had bowled very well on such a flat track, & capable catching, especially John had restricted T to a total their body language betrayed as being considerably below par. Additionally, spinner Doug Gratton also picked up 3 wickets displaying fine control & deceiving Hukins (2) with one that came back up the hill.

Batting at 8 A Ingle-Finch did well to top score but ran out of support as Boonaert (2-38) sped through the tail. Ultimately though, it was disappointment for the Islingtonians, & with just 1 Sunday defeat, it was Chanda who swung the match in the home sides favour & agonisingly away from P. Davies was still agonising today "Still can't believe the dozy shot I got out to yesterday and that we didn't win - learn and move on I guess."
