Pacific rocked up at Highgate CC’s utilitarian ground in amongst the Crouch End cricket & tennis clubs with an end of season feel. The JP Morgan Chase XI was the strongest to face them & therefore the likeliest to record their 1st win against Pacific at the 5th attempt.
Winning the toss & batting first was a good start in this twenty20 & Gavin Wainwright sustained this with a 12 ball 25 (retired). Morgans were in no mood to see the evening through tamely & superb 4 over spells from Barrett 0-10, Knight 1-20 & Mike 0-12 strangled any free flowing stroke play. Hollman 27* (40 balls) & Purcell 27 (retired) of 35 balls & Hardisty 20* (20 balls) made important contributions but in the context of the game Pacific were probably about another 50 runs short.
Having said that, Moses Hutchinson-Pascal gave Pacific a dream start with 2 wickets in the 1st over but in complete contrast his nightmare 2nd haemorrhaged 25 runs alone incl 9 wides & with Mike taking a liking to Simon Smith’s 2nd over the dye was cast after 4 overs when Morgans were on 53-2 needing just over a 100 from 18 overs which they achieved with 34 balls & 7 wickets to spare.
XI :- Conrad Chandler*, Peter Hollman, Aroon Korgaonkar, Jon Webley, Simon Smith, Adam Long, Gavin Wainwright+, Jon Hardisty, James Smith, Sammy Purcell & Moses Hutchinson-Pascal
