Plenty of comings & goings all week but with Luke & Sasha stepping in at the last moment the 2 XIs were left to battle for Club supremacy on as good a day that July could offer nevermind April.
With latercomers & no shows, Seniors Skipper Shayne Rees had no choice than to bat first. The Juniors impressive bowlers lead by James Gleadow who has quickly rediscovered his best form as he picked up the top 3 with just 15 on the board. Rob Allum & Highgate's Tony Duckett righted the ship 76 run partnership as Jon Webley went through his full array of bowlers. Once Allum & Duckett fell however, the bulk of the resistance lay with James Smith before he was bowled by the returning Gleadow in the 36th over.
In reply, Lee McDonald rolled back the years with an impressive spell & was unlucky not to pick up a wicket. Tony Duckett's clever variations kept the batsmen honest but a 59 run opening partnership between Chris Atkin & Sheldon Greenland set the winning platform later continued by Tom Wiggett's brutal uncomplicated strokeplay. Some fairly rusty fielding did not do the Seniors any good either but the writing was already well on the wall.
As the match petered out Luke Hollman picked up his 1st senior wicket with Sammy Purcell adjudged lbw. The shock of round buying extravagana begged for thereafter lead to some hasty exits from Porchettas as the young Hollman was overcome by this & exhaustion.
