Pacific 68 all out (14 overs) J.Herring 27,Kurt 3 for 18,Julian 2 for 8
Tower Ravens 69 for 1 (12.2 overs) Julian 28*,Michael 24*,Allum 1 for 19
Pacific's 8 a side season ended as we lost to Tower Ravens by 6 wickets.
The Pacific batting never got going and the Ravens were left the relatively simple task of scoring 69 off their 16 overs. Pacific bowled and fielded well, but the total was just too small to defend and a six
finished the game in the 13th over of the Ravens' reply.
The batting failed to get going. Debutant James Herring scored a belligerent 27 before perishing in the 10th over; newcomer Vaibhav Puri was well bowled on 3 having looked promising and Steve Emmins was unfortunate to fall onto his stumps for 8 while trying to avoid a chest high bumper. Rob Allum looked to push on the rate, but fell on 3. With
Mark Herring (2), skipper Rob Bastin (3) and Brad Davis (3) all falling cheaply, Shayne Rees (6*) was left partnerless in the 14th over. The bowling was straight and steady and the fielding sharp.
The Pacific opening bowlers kept the Ravens' openers under control, with Allum (1 for 19 off 4 overs) taking the early wicket of the Ravens'
captain Daryl for 13. With the opening bowlers finishing their spells, Bastin (0 for 17 off 3 overs) turned to Rees and Davis to continue the defence of the score. Both continued the good line, with Rees (0 for 15 off 3 overs) especially hard for the Raven's bats to put away. However,
the inevitable target was reached with the first six of the game, struck by Julian (28*) off Davis (0 for 16 off 2.2 overs). All that was left was for the protagonists to adjourn to a local server of refreshments and mull over the Ravens' fine display of controlled cricket.
