Ring rustiness in the field, some poor running & calling (of the batters Steve Lay's 1st ball dismissal was the only dismissed batsman out to a bowler) & a proliferation of wides (20) combined to ensure that Finchley B's target remained out of reach.
There were some positive signs as Adrian Duthie on debut made 32 not out having witnessed close hand the run outs of Hollman & Baglivi (identical) & Faisal who should have made it to the strikers end but a failure to hit the straps meant there was just not enough application to reach the requisite standard.
