Pacific batting legend David Murray - check our records - is taking on a challenge & seeks support.

Dear Friends

I am supporting Craig Maxwell and his family's efforts to fund raise for improved Cancer care in Wales. I am walking day 2 of 26 on February 15th, which is 26 miles from Menai Bridge to Moelfre around the Anglesea coast.

Craig and 30 fellow hikers per day, will take on the Wales Coastal Path in a 26-day challenge.• 26 days walking mirrors the goal of the number of days the QuicDNA project wants to reduce the diagnosis time to. 780 miles will be walked representing the 78 days it took Craig to receive his diagnosis from the point of finding his tumour. Three additional days will be cycled.

Each day of hiking offers 30 spaces, inviting participants to raise money for the Maxwell Family Genomics Fund and take on the challenge of 26 miles a day through breath-taking Welsh countryside.• The dates for the event are 14th February – 10th March 2024

Craig will attempt to walk every day, but with ongoing treatments it may not always be possible. On those occasion Craig will look to do the 1st and last hour of the hike.

A match ball will be carried the entire distance of the challenge, symbolising our collective fight against cancer. The event will culminate at the national stadium of Wales, the Principality Stadium on March 10th for the Wales vs. France Guinness Six Nations match, where Craig accompanied by his children, Isla and Zach, will carry the match ball onto the pitch.

Just to give me an added handicap, I have a sore Achilles so it will be a struggle to get around the course, but that’s nothing to what Craig and his family are going through. I have known Craig for about 20 years, first when he was at the Welsh Rugby Union, and now at the Six Nations. He is one of the really good guys in Sport and is now using his remaining time to raise huge sums for cancer treatment in Wales. We should all be grateful for every day we have. Any support you can offer would be really appreciated.

Some of you we won’t have spoken for a while, but would love to catch up sometime soon (even if you don’t give me any money!)

Please see the Just Giving Link below.

Many, many thanks

Best
