As Summer finally came to Wray with searing heat, good vibes and no little celebration (and that was just Harry Rix's bowling), Pacific took on old rivals Paddington Rabbits in a timed friendly.

Nothing Rabbity about this Paddington side; their line-up allegedly batsman heavy and hopping around to have a bite at Wray's short boundaries.

With the pitch and weather favouring the Rabbits, some unusually smart fielding from Pacific kept our opening attack in it until Harry Rix eventually made the breakthrough with a you miss, I hit, missile. That brought former NSW youth player and Paddington Rabbits skipper Matt to the crease where he and opener Vid proceeded to build a watchful partnership. In addition to Harry, Manav sent down a long opening spell of line and length excellence and was unlucky not to get a nick or LBW on several occasions. 

The Rabbit's skipper went to great catch from Eppy of some pacey bowling from Dan Humphrey, encouraging captain Tim to induce some further shots by employing twin terror turners, Eppy and Korgi from both ends. The Rabbits hereto conservative approach vanished in a rush of indelicate shots, with Eppy getting the best of an early LBW shout. 

Keeping the fielding tight throughout, Pacific did the hard work by removing half-centurion Vid and useful middle order hitter Usman before struggling to win the end game against a deep batting order. Some fine shot-making left the Rabbits on a formidable total of 283 after 41 overs. 

Batting after a long innings in the sun was always going to be testing but Tristan and Dan made it look straightforward, regularly hitting well placed and risk-free shots into gaps in a century partnership and frustrating the Rabbit's increasingly vocal attack.

One rejected LBW shout (remember kids, it's always a good idea if your bowler appeals) later, the Rabbits were positively hopping, and turned to Skipper Matt to break the deadlock. After a fine caught and bowled to remove Tristan for a superb 75, a canny bowling performance induced several false shots from Pacific's middle order. Despite several well-placed boundaries, the pressure built and wickets continued to fall. Dan Humphrey and Eppy provided some stout resistance, but were eventually undone by the spin, leaving Harry, Korgi and Tim to fight out the draw. Going all the way down to wire, and with the Rabbits crowding the bat, Pacific batted to 44 overs before the game timed out, earning a much lauded draw against a disciplined bowling attack. With Wray looking her best in the evening sun, and several strong individual performances with bat and ball across both teams, cricket was the winner this time around.
