Two of the ‘elder statesmen’ of the league met in a Pitch 1 clash that was to a large extent decided by bowling discipline.
Pacific won the toss and elected to bat against the Old Fallopians ( OFs) and got off to a good start aided by numerous wides , the run rate was around ten an over which is par for Pitch 1 and just as acceleration was being sought , OFs picked up opener Seb followed by No 3 Colin P. This however bought Riz striding to the crease in the 11th over, and with John Deghan retring on a well made 50 , he had licence to launch. A 21 ball 44 not out followed and with the innings closing on 174-2 (including 30 wides) a a tough target of 175 was set for the OFs.
OFs started well , with the batting worms matching at 10 an over for the first 6 overs, however the inroduction of Hamza Saeed provided the breakthrough from which Pacific never looked back, despite some lusty blows from the OFs. With Hamza (4-0-30-2) and Riz (4-0-22-2) bowling in tandem at the death, the innings closed on 128-5 off the 16 overs.
