A great choice venue from Rahul for the End of Season dinner & awards held at the Hemingford Arms in Islington.

The James Gleadow Clubman of the Season saw 11 nominees with Rahul coming 3rd with 16 votes, John D second with 20 & Mutz with 48 thereby retaining the award. Congrats to Mutz. Well deserved.

There were also 11 nominees for the Tom Brown Best Newcomer.

Joint 3rd were Jithin George & Shaline Fazal with 15 votes each, 2nd was Mohan Kumar Raja with 28 but in 1st was Luke De Noronha polling 46.

Fielder of the season was far more widely spread 15 different people attracting votes. However it’s was John Deighan with 28 who edged it from joint 2nd Mutz Siddiqui & Kaleem  Luthra both with 18 while Tom Gane accounted for 17 votes.

13 nominees for Most Improved Player shows a lot of improvement was spread around & noticed. However Jasbir Basi with 48 votes was head & shoulders head of Kaleem Luthra in 2nd with 17 & 3rd placed Nick Epstein with 15.

Finally the most prestigious of all, the Player of the Season 2021. He’d come so close in the last 2 or 3 years but his 1688 was more than double 2nd place & last years winner John Deighan. This year he was joint 3rd with Kaleem while Tim Garrett picked up a respectable 20 votes in 2nd to possibly the most deserved winner of all the categories club chairman & NELCL batter of the year Toby Chasseaud.

This year we also added VPCCL player of the season which was won by John Deighan & the Champagne Moment of the Year was most popularly Tom Gane’s maiden 100 which came against Canary Wharf.

Thanks to all the attendees & former skipper & all rounder Jim Davies who was on hand for the presentations.
