Having won the toss and elected to bat, we were dealt a big blow when openers Luke and Toby fell in the second over to a dreaded “double play”. Reluctant to hit along the ground due to the ridiculously long grass, Luke lofted a straight drive and Toby, distracted by the pain of having been hit on the elbow by a throw a couple of balls earlier, didn’t realise a catch had been taken and therefore failed to run the two necessary to save himself. Funnily enough, the Pacific chairman had written disparagingly about the double play rule in last week’s match report http://www.pacificcc.co.uk/display-items.php?intItemID=2946 .

This double blow knocked the stuffing out of our innings, which then became something of a procession, with Rizwan’s 38 the only notable score, which at least gave us something to bowl at.

North London Muslim knocked off the runs easily enough despite Korgy taking a wicket with his first ball.
