Pacific recovery falls just short
Pacific v Crouch End CC at Away
Mon 03 May 1999
Drawn
Friendly fixture

Another slow low pitch not made for fluent scoring.

C: 124-10. Raj 42. M Alexander 11.4-6-17-5
P: 120-9. T Mileham 43. Joshi 10-3-18-4

The seamers did well especially Mike Alexander who picked up his 1st fivefer of the season but it has to be said that all 4 seamers were tight & economical. Additionally, spinners Matt Holliday & Allan Roberts bowled well but Raj, with good use of the feet, was ruthless as both were only able to pick up relatively expensive returns for a wicket a piece.

In reply, P had an awful start reaching 27-4, all 4 going to the leggie, Joshi, who had a ruthless googly amongst his armoury, Batting at 6, Tim Mileham was the only batter really able to get on top, & abley supported by Matt Patel, they sought to right the ship with a partnership of 47.

Quick runs were still required though & wickets fell to that cause until the last ball was due with 5 runs still required & 2 wickets in hand. Mike Alexander gave it his best before being selflessly run out coming back for a second.
