Hopes were high when Pacific won the toss on a hot, sunny day at Millfields and the two Marks – Mehta and Woodland (making his NELL debut) – saw us to 45 four nought off ten overs in our final Saturday league match of the season. Mehta and skipper Chasseaud then built a further little partnership before the collapse came. From 77-2 we found ourselves all out for 131 in 35.1 overs. As the last three wickets fell without a run being scored only the presence of a friendly cat in our non-existent dressing room could provide any consolation.
Sam Howes (5-0-23-1) and Ben Stockton (4-0-16-2) were the pick of the Pacific bowlers but Royal Sovereign eased home for only four wickets in their pursuit of the low target.
