The captains went out to toss in the odd spot of rain and, either bravely or foolishly (probably the latter), opted to play a full 40-over match despite the bad weather forecast. It then proceeded to rain all day. Camel's opening bowlers Kit and Sam had Pacific in all sorts of trouble at 20 for 4 off 8 overs before No 6 Ben Stockton steadied the ship with an accomplished 82 off 62 balls, with support from first Mutz Siddiqui (18 off 23 balls) and then John Ormesher (29 off 27 balls). Pacific were happy to have brought a gazebo to the ground, but less happy when they realised that they'd forgotten to bring the roof, so it was soggy on the sidelines as well as in the middle. Pacific finished on 194 all out off 38.3 overs.

In response, Camel fought valiantly with four batsmen scoring over 20 (Brendon, Matt H, Avinash and Johnny) but none making it to 50 against tight bowling and pretty sharp fielding by Pacific, who kept things together well despite the wet weather. John Ormesher (3 for 29) was the pick of the bowlers, with James McGinnigle (2 for 32), Bing Stanley (2 for 12) and Aroon Korgaonkar (1 for 34) also in the wickets as Camel were bowled out for 157 in 36.3 overs.

After the match half a dozen players from each side took sanctuary from the rain in the nearby Princess of Wales pub, where Pacific were able to toast their first ever North East London League victory.
