The JGA maintained its dominance over Pacific on a largely grey, cool day at long-grass Wray Crescent where the charities were the winners to tune of over £500. A fine high-scoring game went down to the last over. 

Toby filled in for Ahmed (traffic) at the toss whilst Riz kindly skippered the JGA due to the chemo-related unavailability of Gleadow himself. Toby won and chose to bat and the game started pretty punctually.

Stockton played one the great Pacific innings as he made the second highest ever individual score for the club. Despite merely appearing to be playing checked drives several balls soared towards the upper netting or over. Whilst he was dropped three times he never appeared to be unduly troubled despite a strong oppo bowling attack. Gabbay bowled particularly well to snare three. Webbo never really hit his stride. Toby selflessly played the support role in a huge 4th wicket stand that only just missed the Wisden against some hostile deliveries from estate agent Jack and Riz, who had held themselves back to bowl at the death. 

Tea was good although we may need to invest in a table. 

Webbo rocked the JGA's reply early on with three wickets but then had to leave at 5pm.  Kieran nobly subbed in as a fielder and promptly grassed two admittedly hard chances at deep square leg. Jon and Jack consequently cashed in in fine contrasting styles. Jon was his usual accumulation bat-long self. Jack showed immense hitting power to race to his 89. When finally parted at 195 the game was marginally running in JGA's favour. Pacific succeeded in chipping some wickets away but Mutz especially kept his nerve to nudge the JGA home.

Commentator's curse seemed to work especially well – Webbo was being hailed as worth driving from Leicestershire to watch when he was dismissed. The pointlessness of having a slip for Riz when Ahmed was bowling was widely upheld on the sideline and next ball Richards held a fine slip catch.

It was a good day for keepers but the outfield catching was not great.
