A sunny footballer busy scene greeted the players at Wray.  However, the footballers played ball for once and left on time.  Pete H and Jason L umpired and Vic Devers kindly scored for the second day in a row.  Skipper Nuggsy faced near mutiny over inserting in a 30 over game. 

Fields started well as a frazzled skip failed to find his line and Aroon suffered from said frazzled skip's poor field settings.  Stockton came on and bowled very well as did Luke so that we regained some control.  Riz bowled with usual supreme tightness and wiff of hostility.  Hugh unfortunately injured his knee trying to field of his own bowling.  Ravi bowled well and was unlucky the run out was not ruled a stumping.  Webbo took three catches to add to the run out.  Ahmed was a victim of puritanical captaincy.  The catching was much better than the day before although a couple of chances were spilled.

Tea was good but a heavy rain shower delayed the restart. 226 was a stiff target but did not appear insurmountable given our batting depth and the fast outfield. 

The openers got us off to a cracking start as Fields struggled with a wet ball.  Burnham, as usual, blasted the ball back down the ground and top edged to third man with abandon to make a fine 43.  Riz nearly decapitated the scorer with a four through cover (!) - I don't think ever seen a ball that hard through that part of the field - before being lbw for a rapid 27.  Webbo initially benefited from a fielder at cow corner who seemed uninterested in catching the ball on multiple occasions but after that he eased through the gears in the gathering gloom.  He became the first Pacifician to 10,000 runs - an immense achievement sadly not marked at the time.  Toby ticked along in support in usual immaculuate style.  Victory was inevitable despite the near dark before rain ended proceedings.  Fields may count it as a draw but D/L exists for a reason – win by 25 runs D/L Method (app).*
