A trying week of match organising yielded a makeshift Old Grammarians XI (although only batted X) to take on Pacific's X.  Wray was damp underfoot but by and large bathed in warm autumnal sunshine.  Ahmed stepped up to skipper and still agreed a 40 over contest despite the delayed start. 

Nuggsy and Davis operated largely off short run ups to speed things up and for grip underfoot.   They pinned the OGs back to 70ish/4 off 16.  OGs had a rotund non whites wearing opener who biffed a few over midwicket.  Riz, playing for OGs, was unusually subdued - perhaps due to the instantly spread field before being bowled by Davis.  Pacific enjoyed seeing Rafiq taking his first wickets for the club (and three of them!), including the dismissal of two decent bats which exposed the OG tail and the air went out of the game.  We knew we were never going to lose with them being 100/7 and they knew it.  Nuggsy wins the overkill award for trying to run out Imad (playing like his dad for OGs) with a direct hit that the umpires sensibly went Wengerish over. Mark and Ahmed picked up wickets at the end. Three of the last six balls including the innings ending catch left fielders wondering whether they should have used a box.

A good tea was devoured - a good range of Tesco and homecooking.

125ish to chase was never going to be troublesome but the OGs rather disintegrated, with lackadaisical spells surprising for a team called Grammarians.Sumeet took 22 off the third over before being sawn off by the Dharmasena style umpiring with no DRS to save him.  After that Kieran gently eased his way past 500 runs for the season for the first time in his cricket 'career' in support of Rajkumar's thumping unbeaten fifty (although Paul did not seem happy with his timing).

A beer match was held afterwards.
