The Dorset tour started with a winning draw at the scenic Plush ground near the delightfully named Piddle Hinton under mostly overcast skies. After some sacrificial openers departed Jon and Toby gave us a wonderful demonstration of how to bat with a double hundred partnership. Jon finished on about 148 not out including some huge sixes up the grass banks, while Toby made his fiftieth 50 for the club. Tea was super.
Shaz and Ahmed got in the wickets but we dropped a few chances and couldn't quite force the win, which would have been our sixth on the trot. Ahmed bowled the ball of the day to get their main bat stumped. Aroon bamboozled a batsman, bowling him through his legs with a wrong 'un, and then showed us how to catch but sadly injured his groin doing so.
After the match drinks were enjoyed in the Digby Tap (£2.60 a pint!) in Sherborne before a good curry was ruined by a bizarre disagreement over the bill.
