Hollman shows Aussie heritage
Pacific v Lessa Wanderers at Away
Sat 29 Aug 1998
Drawn
Friendly fixture

At last, Lessa finally achieved their batting potential against Pacific which they found far easier to locate against lesser bowling sides.

LW : 238-8 dec. S Beck 120. I Lay 9-1-40-3.
P : 146-3. S Lay 56* T Mileham 31 Powell 12-2-32-2

This time Pacific were under strength & aligned with a truly dreadful fielding performance & an absence of in form bowlers played out for a tame draw. This was the 8th meeting between the sides & Pacific were unbeaten. Captain Steve Lay faced with a strong looking batting line up & knowing the weakness in his own attack, opted the chase what the bowlers left him with. The only seamer available, Steve¹s brother, Ian picked up 3 wickets as the batters otherwise tucked in - especially Steve Beck who scored an unbeaten century before retiring out.

He did survive a stumping appeal in the 90s, a confident lbw shout & 8 (eight) dropped catches. batting in reply, caution prevailed as once Tim Mileham was out at 51-2 the shutters virtually came down in the absence of gimme bowling. Steve thrashed out with 3 overs to go & Hollman uncharacteristically refused to walk after edging but it was a misleading ending to a tame display.
