As October temperature records fell nationwide a fine close fought battle was lost due to ropey fielding and poor captaincy.  After skipper Nuggsy won the toss and bowed to mutiny at his suggestion of fielding first Pete Hollman made a super 70 odd.  He was supported well by Lahrie before he retired hurt and Jon Briley as the opening stand registered 146.  Unfortunately a late flurry of wickets prevented an increase in momentum and we were a below par 172/5 off our 40.  A good tea followed. 

Alexander and Luke Hollman opened the bowling and got us into the game with wickets and when Smith followed up with two fine dismissals Strongroom were 80/6.  They slipped off the hook due to batting depth that meant they had a regular opening pair as their 9th wicket partnership.  A cooked skipper did not manage to exercise sufficient control of the field placings and chances were missed.

Despite the sloppiness it was a great day's cricket that went down to the last over was deservedly won by Strongroom who gained revenge for our win at their place earlier in the season. 

Strongrrom Captain Jon Gower said"It was a really good game, but I think your pace bowlers bowled a much fuller length than ours, hence clean bowling 4-5 of our main batsmen. But well done on your innings, full of gritty determination - I wouldn't have fancied facing Zorain on that surface! 

We batted deep, which is what ultimately what gave us a somewhat fortunate victory. But we often have a close fight with you guys! "
