A comfortable stroll around a picturesque Broxbourne. The League continues to frustrate - crushing victories or cancellations (with the exception of the Ally Pally defeat).
After Bennett perished to an injudicious shot Webley and Bastin got the scoreboard racing along. Bastin was a victim of a rash second run attempt by Webley (although an instant response would have saved Bastin). Lahrie provided Webley with good support as the treasurer began to worry as at least three balls were lost over the trees. Tempany quickly perished - two lbw decisions in an over! Webley powered on - cutting brilliantly to the short boundary and generally toying with the opposition.
A good tea was wolfed down happily although the ice creams were missing.
Parkfield's batting never posed a threat. Tight opening spells by Smith and Gleadow killed the game. Rees and Korgaonkar bowled excellently as first change before Rademaker ended proceedings. The young opposition were clueless against Aroon. The Pacific fielding was generally much sharper - particularly fine slip catch by Webley -than the opposition had been although Roy, cover, and Gleadow, the bowler, did good impressions of statues whilst the ball landed between them having come down with ice on it. Two balls later there was an almost carbon copy situation that Bastin resolved this time by running to about extra cover to claim the catch.
Stato Corner. The 4th biggest win by a margin of runs.
