It was another superb sunny day at a fly infested Wray Crescent for this derby encounter. The start was delayed by Islington CC finishing off North London Muslims in a juniors match. Atkin loss the toss (unusually for a Sat game it was a 'First XI' game) and Pacific were made to field.
We soon had Islington CC on the back foot. Smithy bowled another super spell to take 2-19. At the other end Morahan got some swing but rather unfairly had his figures hurt by some very chancy batting. Having reduced the opposition to 50-4 Pacific slipped a little. Mohamed and Haill both shelled a couple of chances each and Islington rallied to 148/9 off 38 overs. Due to the scorers miscounting the overs Islington did not receive their last two overs.
With the outfield quicker than the previous week a target of 149 looked well within reach. Mohamed rocky day continued when dismissed by pre-teen Thomas (who opened the bowling!) for 4. Hollman sensibly supported Webley in a partnership that rarely looked troubled. Webley did offer a couple of hard chances but was very imposing and at his graceful best by the end of the knock.
Three out of three so far this season for Pacific and many a batsmen grumbling about the need to bat first. The only let down was having to watch Man Utd stirring comeback in the pub to complete MOM Webley's perfect day.
