Blues & 2s Blow Visitors Away
Pacific v Gonville & Cauis College at Gonville & Caius
Sat 02 May 2009 at 2pm
Lost 186 runs
Friendly fixture

The 4th highest defeat in runs was as emphatic a crushing defeat for Pacific on a lovely sunny day at the picturesque ground in Cambridge as the honour was tamely lost.

Skipper Gleadow won the toss and inserted the oppo in a timed game. Jon Brown's opening over saw two fours and a wicket but he was the only Pacific bowler who could manage a maiden as Pacific struggled throughout to wrest control from the vibrant students' batting.

Atkin struggled for consistency but was very unlucky that three catches were shelled off him. The skipper too could not staunch the flow of runs either. Korgaonkar was the pick of the bowlers and thoroughly deserved his wickets but even he bowled too many full tosses. The ground fielding was generally good but, Holliday aside, the catching was poor as JH, JBe, JG, JW, SL, AK & AR all shelled chances of varying difficulty.

After a good tea there was an abysmal batting performance. Hollman was cleaned up by a great ball off stump cartwheeling towards the keeper but the rest was poor. Korgaonkar 9* and Lay - top scorer with 12 despite a damaged finger, provided some worthy resistance. The game ended when the skipper played on.

In conclusion, an underprepared Pacific line up struggled in either their 1st games or their 1st game on grass & are up against a G&C line up which improves year on year to the point where they can now boast 1 blue & 3 Camb 2s
