This was a welcome victory on a damp day. Tempany was skippering was for the first time after Gleadow stepped down to allow more batting in the team. Tempany won the toss and bravely chose to bat (a decision not helped by four players being late).
Atkin and Bennett laid a sound foundation. Atkin looked in especially good touch for 45. Tempany then blasted 27 before holing out to cow corner but at 80/4 Pacific were wobbling. Callender achieved a career best 15 supporting Pritchard who milked the spinners superbly on his way to a vital fifty. Rees continued his good form to smash 40 including a huge six to take us past 200.
Tea was disappointing but the oppo's bar was lovely and had a huge TV to watch the Test match on.
Parkfield's reply got off to a poor start when their skipper Ezzard lobbed a simple catch to Bridgett at point and then Smith was very unlucky as two catches were dropped off his bowling. Parkfield were always behind the run rate but solid middle order batting kept them alive despite the downpours turning the pitch into a quagmire.
The crucial wicket was Wilson who was well held by Pritchard off Atkin having reduced the equation to 65 off 8 overs. Atkin and Alexander then cleaned up the tail in great style.
