The inaugural fixture against this Romford based club saw the inner London visitors opt to bat first on a freshened up lively green seamer with bounce. The better bowlers & better deliveries made things difficult but the away side kept wickets in hand & coupled with a dismaying amount of spurned chances by the home fielders & a little indisciplined change bowling acceleration was eventually possible.

Jon Webley & Chris Atkin scored more fluently than most & Peter Hollman kept his wicket in hand for those who could play fluently.

A rapid fire reply saw the Essex side well ahead early on on the comparative especially as Hollman dropped Hazle at slip 1st ball to the unlucky Alexander.

James Smith bowled a disciplined line & was generally unlucky beating the bat regularly but Jon Brown reaped the rewards of this bowling pair by picking up 4 wickets & showing excellent control whilst swinging the ball both ways.

Atkin then came back to impress with the ball before John Hill shone whilst showing how to clean up a tail with his slow left arm with 3 wickets in 9 balls & complete a comfortable win
