Coming back from 2 golden ducks, Darren Tempany put all fears of a 3rd behind him & once settled but the foot to the floor with a 28 ball half century & reaching 91 not out from 40 balls including 9 sixes & 6 fours which took the game out of Broxbourne's young grasp.. Quality.
So much for a quiet day in the country, there was a county game between Herts & Sussex Under 15s on the main square (a shame as we'd hoped to be there as the Is were away). There was an England v Broxbourne hockey match, a helicopter (full size) hovered for some time over our game before later an airplane (model) buzzed by. With Darren's fireworks or should I say bouncing bombs into the River Lea, this was not a place for a quiet snooze. Even trying to get changed afterwards drew audable tut tutting from the squash players. But the day was worth it.
Our Local Source (Ian Lay) says " great to see us back to winning ways. Bet every one felt very good
after the game. Sorry I couldn't make it down to watch but we ended up
having a bit of boating party with a few people coming round.
Just a note on the report, pedantic as I am. The river that Darren was
despositing red balls into is I think the New River. The River Lea/Lee
Navigation are a couple of hundred yards further east. Local knowledge
and all that rubbish. Though knowing Darren's hitting it wouldn't
surprise me if he reached that far! ;-)"
