The would be eradication of some disappointing fielding was not enough to close the 30+ run gap between these 2 sides. Goodmayes were bright, quick & lythe in the field, they backed up 4 accurate seamers & their batting was more than steady. The batting was built around Inzaman alike Abdul's 50 retired off 28 balls although Pacific did make occasional inroads - twice by pies thrown down by Conrad Chandler who became exasperated by his lack of direction & reverted to spin - surely a sign for the Captain to have introduced Sammy Purcell ?
Nevertheless Jon Webley & Rob Bastin achieved considerable swing & provided ample support to Darryl Roberts' steady opening spell & helped keep a target score within sight.
With the bat & in the gloom, 10 an over was a big ask though. Most hopes rested on Jon Webley who was sadly run out for 24. Regular wickets meant a great 44 run last wicket partnership between Darryl Roberts & Ali Pritchard added thorough respectability but the better side secured a place against Tower Ravens in the semi final next week.
